Mariah Carey is to leave American Idol to embark on a world tour.
The pop star retweeted a message from her publicists PMK•BNC confirming that she will be stepping away from the Fox talent show for her first tour since 2009, although no concert dates have yet been announced.
“Mariah Carey is a true global icon – one of the most accomplished artists on the planet – and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the American Idol contestants this season,” said Fox and Idol co-producers Fremantle Media and 19 Entertainment.
“We know she will remain an inspiration to Idol hopefuls for many seasons to come.”
