The upcoming musical comedy First Date has added Bryce Ryness (Hair), Eric Ankrim, Kevin Kern (Wicked) and Sydney Shepherd (The Picture of Dorian Gray) to the cast for the Broadway production, which opens at the Longacre Theatre on August 8. The show begins performances on July 9.
Zachary Levi (of NBC’s Chuck) and Krysta Rodriguez (Smash, The Addams Family) star as the tightly-wound Aaron and serial dater Casey in the brand new musical, which tells the story of the couple’s first date as it unfolds over the course of one hilarious evening. Ankrim, who originated the role of the Aaron in the 2012 Seattle production, will take over Levi’s role from July 16 through July 21. The cast also includes Sara Chase, Kristoffer Cusick, Blake Hammond, Kate Loprest and Vicki Noon.
First Date features a book by Austin Winsberg, music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner and direction by Bill Berry. The creative team includes musical staging by Josh Rhodes, scenic and media design by David Gallo, costumes by David C. Woolard, lighting by Mike Baldassari, sound by Kai Harada and hair by Josh Marquette. Read the rest of this story here…
