LEAF Reveals Lineup

The 37th Lake Eden Arts Festival in Black Mountain, N.C., will host Dr. John, Zap Mama, Mali’s Vieux Farka Toure and North Carolina’s own Acoustic Syndicate for a musical weekend in October.

Mixing up a multi-cultural bowl of musical pleasure, the non-profit LEAF Festival scheduled for Oct. 17-20 will also feature performances by Uganda’s Samite, New York City’s Metropolitan Klezmer, Latin music’s Grupo Fantasma and Orquesta Gardel, Cajun country with BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet and Rising Appalachia, and New Orleans’ Soul Rebels Brass Band and 101 Runners.

But we’re still brushing LEAF’s proverbial surface.  Along with great music there will be dancers exhibiting several styles of the art including Contra, Latin, Cajun and Bhangra, plus poetry, puppetry slams, healing arts workshops, folk art and handcraft exhibitions.  Add all that to camping, watersports and the LEAFlet Kid’s Village and you have a great October weekend with your name on it.
