Stone Temple Pilots is ready to take its new lineup on tour. The band’s newly announced fall trek is its first outing with Chester Bennington since STP debuted its new singer in May at Los Angeles’ KROQ Weenie Roast.
Bennington, who is the co-vocalist for Linkin Park, took over for Scott Weiland. STP also features Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz. Days after playing the Weenie Roast, Stone Temple Pilots filed a lawsuit against Weiland, accusing the former frontman of misusing the band’s name. STP wants the singer to stop using the group’s name and songs at his solo shows. Weiland countersued the band in June saying the musicians didn’t have a right to fire him and shouldn’t be able to go on with a new frontman.
Meanwhile, Bennington and the guys have been working on a new EP, featuring the single “Out Of Time.” The set of tunes is due out this fall.
“We’re very ambitious about the future of making music,” said Robert DeLeo. “The process and intention of creating it is so much more gratifying. We’ve been writing new material and visiting songs from our early albums. It all feels new again and we’re excited to get out and play a solid set of songs both old and new.” Read more on this release here…
