Mastodon are hitting the road in North America in 2016 and kicking it all off on June 14th in Missoula, MT at the Wilma Theater.
Formed in 2000, Mastodon is a heavy metal band from Atlanta, GA. The band consist of bassist Troy Sanders, guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor. Their music has been described as progressive metal, sludge metal, alternative metal, and stoner rock. All four members participate in vocals, creating a unique blend of singing styles and voices.
Mastodon’s debut album, Remission, was released in 2002, garnered significant critical acclaim for its unique sound and brought the band national attention. The song “Colony of Birchmen” from the band’s 2006 third album, Blood Mountain, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2007. in 2011, The Hunter, was released and achieved major commercial success in the US. It featured the song “Curl of the Burl”, which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in 2012.
