Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper are on tour together in 2017 and it all get kicked off on July 6th in Hollywood, FL at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Born in 1945 in Highgate, London, Sir Roderick David “Rod” Stewart is a pop music star not only in the US but worldwide. Stewart began his rise to stardom in the 1960’s with groups like The Jeff Beck Group and Faces. Stewart style has been described as a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music, and R&B but throughout the years his music took on a more soft-rock feel. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him the 17th most successful artist on the “Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists”. Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH in 1994.
Born in Queens, NY in 1953, Cyndi Lauper is a pop icon singer, songwriter, actress and LGBT activist. She has been performing for over 30 years and gained national fame immediately with her solo album She’s So Unusual. The album contained the popular singles “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, “Time After Time”, “She Bop”, and “All Through the Night”, The album also earned Lauper the “Best New Artist” award at the Grammy Awards in 1985. She followed up that huge success with the soundtrack for the motion picture The Goonies and her second record True Colors.
In 2013 she wrote the score for the popular Broadway play Kinky Boots. She went on to win the Tony Award for “Best Original Score” for her hard work. She later received a Grammy Award “Best Musical Theater Album” for Kinky Boots.
Lauper has established herself as a pop culture icon selling over 50 million records and 20 million singles. Lauper has also been celebrated for her humanitarian work, particularly as an advocate for gay and transgender rights. Don’t miss your chance to see this pop icon live in concert this year.
