Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey Announce Rescheduled Dates for “All the Hits” Tour

Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey are hitting the road together in 2017 and kicking it all off on July 21st in Oakland, CA at the Oracle Arena.

Lionel Richie is a singer, songwriter, musician, record producer and actor from Tuskegee, AL. After moving to Joliet, IL as a young boy, Richie eventually moved back to Alabama to attend college at the Tuskegee Institute. After college, he began playing saxophone with a group by the name of The Commodores. They went on to sign with Motown Records and recorded such hits as “Brick House”.

In the 1970’s, Richie began writing and recording his own music. Richie sang a duet with Diana Ross for the movie Endless Love, which gardened the attention of labels and created Richie’s solo career.

Richie made his solo debut in 1982 with the album Lionel Richie and the number-one hit “Truly”. With the release of his second album, Can’t Slow Down, Richie reached superstar fame. He released hit singles like “All Night Long”, “Hello”, and “Stuck on You”.

Richie has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, and has won an Oscar and Golden Globe over his career.

In 1970, in Huntington, Long Island, NY, a star was born. Mariah Carey was born into a musical family and began singing at a young age. She moved to New York City after high school and starting working as a backup singer for Brenda K. Starr.

In 1988, Carey met record executive Tommy Mottola at a party. After receiving her demo from Starr, Mottola was so impressed that he signed her to Columbia Records. In 1990, she released her debut album, Mariah Carey, which rose to #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album won Carey two Grammy Awards and produced the hot pop single, “Vision of Love”. Her third album, Music Box, was her best-selling album of all time, with over 28 million sales.

Throughout the ’90s and early 2000s, Carey released several top-selling singles like “One Sweet Day,” “My All,” “I Still Believe,” and “Heartbreaker” and her signature song “We Belong Together”. She toured throughout the world and ticket sales for the Long Island native were through the roof.
