The Cleveland Indians have been around for over 100 years and are one of the original charter franchises of the American League. The other three original American League clubs that remain in the same city are: Chicago, Boston and Detroit. Although coming close in 2016 the Indians have not won the World Series since 1948.

The Indians play in the Central Division of the American League since 1994. They have won two World Series in 1920 and 1948 and six AL pennants in 1920, 1948, 1954, 1995, 1997, and 2016.

It stood as a MLB ticket record until 2008 when the Boston Red Sox broke it. The Indians retired the number 455 in 2001.
