The St. Louis Cardinals got their start in 1882 and were known as the St. Louis Brown Stockings. In 1900, the team officially named themselves the Cardinals however fans have called them all sorts of names like The Redbirds, The Birds, The Birds on the Bat, and The Cards. Currently the St. Louis Cardinals play their home games at Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis.

The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the most successful MLB teams in the league. No other team, besides the NY Yankees, has a more storied career. Since 2000, the Cards have won the National League pennant four times and won two World Series titles. In total the Cardinals have won 11 World Series titles in 1926, 1931, 1934, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1964, 1967, 1982, 2006, and 2011. The team has produced 20 league MVP titles, four batting Triple Crowns, and three Cy Young Awards. Hall of Fame MLB players include Bob Gibson, Ozzie Smith, Stan Musial, Bruce Sutter, Lou Brock, and Dizzy Dean.

The St. Louis Cardinals play in the heavy competitive National League Central Division against teams like the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds.
