The Sugar Bowl is one of the 5 college football games that make up the Bowl Championship Series and has been played since 1935. The Sugar Bowl is the second oldest bowl game in the United States after the Rose Bowl. The game has been held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome since 1976, except for 2006, where it was played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA, because of Hurricane Katrina.
Mercedes-Benz Superdome seats nearly 76,000. In addition to the Sugar Bowl, the stadium has also hosted multiple Super Bowls and is the home of the New Orleans Saints of the NFL.
