Trey Anastasio was born in Fort Worth, TX in 1964. Anastasio attended the high profile Taft School, a preparatory school located in Connecticut. He then went on to attend the University of Vermont (UVM) and Goddard College.
While in college, Trey Anastasio met original Phish bandmates Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon, and Jeff Holdsworth. Anastasio and Fishman ultimately transferred to Goddard college, where Anastasio created the album The Man Who Stepped into Yesterday for his senior project.
In 1989, the band released their debut album Junta. The band released 10 albums and toured the country on a regular basis before taking a break in 2004. Phish got back together in 2009 and have released two more albums, most recently Fuego in 2014.
Trey Anastasio has had a very successful solo career as well. Anastasio has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Colorado Symphony.
