The Arizona Coyotes have not made the NHL playoffs since 2012. In the 2016-17 NHL season the Arizona Coyotes finished the season with a 30-42-10 record and earned 70 points. The Coyotes finished 6th in the Pacific NHL Conference. The Arizona Coyotes are looking for a rebirth in 2017-18 NHL season.

Starting as the Winnipeg Jets in 1972 in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and eventually moving to the NHL in 1979 the Jets eventually moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1996.  With the new name of the Arizona Coyotes, the team plays their home games at the Gila Center Arena. Hockey fans have been well supportive of the NHL team in the hot climate of Arizona.

The Coyotes have had very few successful seasons however they play in a highly competitive Pacific Division in the NHL Western Conference. Competing against teams like the Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, and Vegas Golden Knights the Coyotes are looking to march back to the NHL Playoffs in 2017.
