Parallel Lines released in 1978 gave the band national fame as before they were strictly known as an underground band here in the US. Over the next couple of year they gave fans hit singles like, Call Me”, “Rapture” and “Heart of Glass”, and the band began selling tickets to bigger and bigger venues.
Eight years later Blondie broke up and Debbie Harry set out on a solo career. In 1997 Blonidie re-formed and immediately released a number one hit with the single “Maria”. Blondie is one the country’s most popular bands and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and has sold nearly 40 miliion albums worldwide.
