Sting is a Northumberland, English native who is a singer, songwriter, and actor. He was the songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for the band, The Police, from 1977 to 1984. After leaving The Police Sting set out on his solo career. Sting’s music is a combination of rock, jazz, reggae, classical, new-age and world music.
Sting as a solo musician and a member of The Police, he has won 16 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and three Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH as a member of The Police in 2003.
